ULI New York Announces Finalists for Excellence in Development
New Lab is a Finalist for Repositioning/Redevelopment
Urban Land Institute New York (ULI NY) has announced the 2020 nominees for its 5th Annual Awards for Excellence in Development, and New Lab is one of four projects vying for Excellence in Repositioning / Redevelopment .
New Lab, located in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, is a design and prototyping facility for the development of advanced technologies and new manufacturing techniques. The initial shell and industrial workspaces of Building 128 were constructed by the US Navy in 1899 as a machine shop for producing marine engines and components. Inspired by the building's rich history of innovation, our clients - Macro-Sea / DBI Projects - envisioned a way to return the building to relevance, launching New Lab in 2016 with the aim of championing entrepreneurship and innovation.
The ULI New York competition recognizes outstanding development projects across all industry sectors that demonstrate the strongest commitment to excellence in development, design, sustainability and resilience, and community impact. These projects best exemplify ULI's ongoing commitment to responsible land use and the creation of sustainable, thriving communities.
The 20 finalists were chosen from over 60 submissions and the winners will be announced at a special gala on April 21, 2020. Wish us luck!
