Northeast Bronx YMCA

Northeast Bronx YMCA

Northeast Bronx YMCA

This new dynamic YMCA campus will be located in the northeast Bronx Community District 12, alongside NYCHA’s Baychester and Edenwald Houses. It will be comprised of three pavilions connected by a glass corridor that will provide views of landscaped courtyards between them, celebrating the existing one hundred old trees that enhance this unique building in a natural gesture.

The YMCA building will include two swimming pools, a 7,200 SF dividable gymnasium, a wellness center, childcare, group exercise studios and sub-dividable community and multipurpose rooms. The double-height entry lobby in the Main Pavilion will open onto a plaza which provides space for outdoor activities. The new, 50,000 SF recreational facility will sit on the eastern side of a large plot under the jurisdiction of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services. Their facility, for children with special needs, will continue to occupy the west part of the site and will have direct access to the new YMCA.
