29 Jay Street

Located in the landmark historic DUMBO neighborhood at the intersection of Jay Street and Plymouth Street, this facility is a new 11-story, 225,000 SF commercial building. The design embraces the look and feel of DUMBO's architectural character, sculpted with the attenuated muscularity of 21st Century technology.

In keeping with the evolution of structural advancements in the district, we have employed a long span steel structural frame, with diagonal cross bracing, to prevent shear walls, minimize columns, and provide ample daylight, for modern commercial use with a historic industrial feel.

The simple but attenuated facade rhythm, texture and shadow contrast, create a building both of its place and time.

The faceted glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) skin recalls nearby cast-in-place concrete structures, while providing a dynamic texture when seen in the commonly raking views created by the tight Dumbo streets.

The building, along with the existing 20 Jay building across the street, creates a gateway into Brooklyn Bridge Park, and adds vibrancy to the important Jay Street Corridor.
